So yeah, I think the title says it all. I downloaded it, opened it, read the instructions.txt file, but I don't know how to install it. It says - register the new modules:
> cd %VDMSPath%
> regsvr32.exe EMUPPDAC
> regsvr32.exe DISKWRITER

but I have no idea what these mean, where they are, or how to install them. This is probably a stupid question, but I'm pretty bad at computers, so any help anyone could give I would be very grateful!

Come on, nobody knows what to do? Someone must!!! I need to play Leisure Suit Larry 6 talkie-version!! Don't deprive me!

This is all done through the command prompt.

Go to Start->Run and type "cmd" in the window.

Type in each command one-by-one:

cd %VDMSPath%
regsvr32.exe EMUPPDAC
regsvr32.exe DISKWRITER

The second and third commands should give you some kind of indication of success registering a module with your system.

Err..you did install VDMSound from the VDMSound-2.0.4-WinNT-i386.msi file first, right? The update is simply the updated files for that program. You should still have "Run with VDMS" as a right-click option, even if you haven't updated.

oh yeah, I do. I do have the "run with VDMSound" option before installing the update. Problem is, I have no idea if I installed the update correctly. It didn't do anything, and I don't get the option to "run with VDMSound (music-note)", only the original option. Now I'm having problems running that launchpad thing. It doesn't do anything!!
I'm trying to play LSL6 talkie from the Ultimate Pleasure Pack. I have access to the game from an icon on the Windows desktop. Could this affect playing the game? Because when I go back-click on the icon, and choose "run with VDMSound", it brings up a black screen and then says "Windows title not found", and the game won't run. What am I doing wrong? Does the game have to be installed in DOS? If so, how to run the game with VDMSound from DOS?
Ehhhh, so much confusion.

Did you follow these steps, in sequence? Also, did you shutdown and reboot after installing the GUI Launchpad?

VDMSound is only for running DOS executables (DOS files that end with .COM or .EXE or batch files, which end with .BAT). Don't run VDMSound on a shortcut to your game, you need to run it on the actual "executable" file. What you described sound like you're trying to run VDMSound on the Windows version of the game. If you have the Windows version (and that's almost certainly what you have), then have you just tried running it natively? (IOW, just start it by clicking on it's Icon).

Well, I tried running with it with both "run with VDMSound" and "(music-note) run with VDMSound" on the lsl6.bat file in the lsl6 folder in the program files. It brings up a black window, brings up the tip menu, then says:

"Loading 'VDDLoader.dll'.....
Successfully loaded & initialized <hUDD = 0x01>.

Invalid directory
Bad command or file name

Press any key to continue....

Which just closes VDMSound. What's going on here? I'm doing it the way people described. Is it suggested you use the original copy instead of a version from a collection? lsl6.bat is the only file I can find that remotely looks like the start-up file for LSL6. I'm so damned confused.....

This has nothing to do with VDMSound, lsl6.bat is broken.
Why not "Run with VDMS" sciv.exe or whatever it is called, directly?

After looking, I can't find that file (sciv.exe) or anything quite like it. Maybe the game was installed incorrectly? I can actually get the game to run with sound from Windows by just right-clicking and then choosing open, but throughout the game, it crashes from bugs and errors. I'll try to install it again later, but I'm starting to think I might have more luck with an original version.

how about SCIDHUV.EXE?

Yes, it’s my fault.

No, that's not there either! Crap, I'm starting to wonder if it was installed correctly.

un the .EXE straight off the CD if it's a CD game... or open up lsl6.bat and double-check that the .exe it in turn runs is on the right drive etc.
This would not happen to be a hacked game that uses FAKECD or something like that, would it???
Cheers,
V.

Go ahead and post the full contents of the LSL6.BAT here.

There should be an Windows version of LSL6 available, have you tried installing and running that (instead of the DOS version)? The Windows installer should be a file called SETUP.EXE and either has the Sierra mountain logo or a shield symbol.

Well, when I try to run LSL6.bat, it doen't do anything. God, I'm having so much trouble. VDMSound does have a high success rate, right? I've got a couple of games coming in the mail, like King's Quest VI (talkie), King's Quest II, Space Quest II, and Leisure Suit Larry 2. Can I run these with VDMSound? Has anyone tried them before?

I'm not asking you to run it, I'm asking for what is contained in it.

Right-click on it, choose EDIT. It will appear inside Notepad. Copy the text from Notepad and paste it in your reply here.

I added somewhere between 150-200 successful tests within a week or so.

Just be aware what it is and what it is not.

It is a SoundBlaster emulator. It is not a PC-Emulator or a magic bug-fixer (IOW, if your game has problems with your video display, VDMSound won't fix that for you because that's not what it does).

*sigh*

Type them into the Quick Search box (three-letter words or larger only) and see. Sierra games are some of the "inconsistent" ones. Some work fine. Others, not at all.

Here, I edited LSL6.bat and here's what was put in notepad. Not a whole lot, but hey I don't know very much about this stuff, so I guess anything can go.

@echo off
cd \sierra\lsl6
sierra
cd ..

Hey, sorry about asking so many questions (most of which are pretty stupid. I'm new to this board, and I'm pretty bad at computers, so I don't know much about this stuff.
