Alright, I've been having a problem running Keen on Mac, hopefully you can help me out.

I've pretty recently switched to a Mac, and have been wanting to find a way to run my all time favorite game, Commander Keen, on it. I found out about DosBox recently and downloaded it in the hopes it would work, then I downloaded the free demo version of the first Keen game and it did work! Success! Yay!

Unfortunately I didn't quit while I was ahead. I went to ID software and found they were selling the old games in a bundle, however they plainly stated "PC ONLY, doesn't work on Mac or Linux." I promptly ignored this warning, figuring if the demo worked in DosBox the full game must too, right? Well, I bought it and it gave me a file called commander_keen_setup.exe, (I renamed it setup.exe because I didn't want to type all that, though,) I tried to run this and got the message: This program cannot be run in DOS mode.

Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to make sure nothing I did was the causing the problem. So, can I do something to fix this?

The installer is a Windows program so you can:

Install it in Windows (emulation or another computer) and copy the files over
or
Try to find an extraction program that can extract the files from the setup program.

Also if there's a program similar to Wine for OSX then you can try that on the installerl.

Oh, that sounds easy! I actually still have an old PC computer, it's just slow as molasses so I don't use it very often.

Thank you so much 😀
