I recently discovered the joys of slowing down a PC by the way of a hardware method. I have a Pentium 75 MHz and no turbo button. But I can turn off the internal L1 cache from bios, which makes a lot of old games playable. This is definietly more pleasant than using SLO'MO.
It' s a little cumbersome though, so I tried some software to disable the cache, ICD.EXE and PENTSLOW.COM. (link).
Thing is they don't always work, sometimes they do but often they hang my pc. What's the cause? And this may be a dumb question but is it possible to harm the cpu with these programs?
This just reminds me that the next dos pc I get has to have a turbo switch.
