I just thought it may be nice to write a simple tutorial for making your own one-click destop icons for your favorite games. I always store my favorite programs (games alike) in my quicklaunch menu so it's very convenient for me to run most of my programs without having a cluttered desktop.
VDMSound is set up so you need to "turn it on" first, but there's an easy way to turn it on and start your game right afterwards automatically (without having to go inter Explorer). Anyway, here's what ya do:
1) Open Notepad (start menu < programs < notepad, usually)
2) Make a new file and put two lines it it: "dosdrv" in the first, and your program path in the second.
3) Save the file (I'd save it as a .bat file but I can't remember if it matters or not)
4) Make your shortcut (right click on the desktop, go to new < shortcut)
5) Point the shortcut path to the bat file you just made (not the game)
A working desktop icon with VDMSound included. Yippie. You could probably also enable VDMSound automatically whenever it first starts up, but I haven't fooled around with that stuff in XP so I'm not sure how well it would work. Either way, it's convenient for lazy people (me).
