I have Windows XP SP3. I installed and ran Dosbox 0.73, but two windows show up, an orange one with the dosbox logo and another one which says switching to vfa, opened midi device win32 and so on.
then both windows close!
I can't seem to make the shell to stay open to be able to type in any commands!
what am i doing wrong?

this is the last thing i see before both the windows close.
i don't get an error or anything. they just open and then shut down.

a) to repeat Jo22's question: are the graphics drivers up to date?
b) use a CLEAN dosbox 0.73 installation and don't mess around with the config file

a) yes, latest sound and graphics drivers installed
b) tried with a clean install of dosbox in a completely new folder after uninstalling the old dosbox, no use.

Delete the dosbox-0.73.conf mentioned there.
