Processor type and speed: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentfield @ 2.4 GHz per processor

But afterwards it crashes back to desktop with a "DOSBOX DOS Emulator has stopped working" message with the following problem signature. I'm going to assume that it will be interesting to note that I was using D-Fends and DOSBOX several months ago with no problems I stopped using the two because my attention was drawn elsewhere and I came back to using them today to try some more DOS games and this is the problem I experienced.

Thank the moons, I feel so stupid. I made the stupidest mistake possible!

You were right it was a problem with the video output mode but I forgot also to set it to VGA. DOSBOX had defaulted to SVGA 3. ARGGH! I could kick myself...

Now I have another problem. The install program loads up fine and actually does not crash. I can select the drive, the program path to install to, I'm using the default of C:\ROTT, however when I hit enter to actually start copying the files over I get a garbled black screen which is actually the DOS black screen and I have to type "exit" in order to escape. It's as if the emulation quitted the install and I don't know why.

I fixed it. I help to download the Windows version of Rise of the Triad but the DOS executable works fine in this copy of it. So DOSBOX is working again and now whenever I want a new experience I can also play ROTT for Windows. 😀
