Hiya!!!
I am testing an ASUS TUSL2-C mobo with a socket370 pentiumIII/1ghz cpu... I noticed it works around 50 degrees celsius, is that normal??? AFAIR those cpus work ~35-40 ???

Under load?
Better get a tualatin CPU..they run very cool
no...! under BIOS! :p
My QDI Advance 10T with the same cpu showed ~32-35 degrees.... maybe it had wrong measurement or maybe the Asus mobo is wrong... either way a tualatin would me better, that small cpu-core the current pIII has and touches the heatsink is just 1cm²
Well, double check your voltage settings and heatsink, and maybe upgrade to a better one just to be sure, but I'd suspect the sensor is probably just reading high.
heatsink is the normal intel one, it is placed OK on the cpu (the first think I checked btw) and voltages seem fine too (they are auto too) ... I have made a win89se installation without any probs so I guess I am OK 😀

It looks like Coppermine @ 1GHz is still a sub-30W CPU. They did bump the voltage very slightly but it doesn't appear to have done much.
Compared to Athlon Thunderbird, these are cool CPUs for sure.
But that didn't stop me from buying both of these coolers to play with back in the day. 😁
