Yes, we know what you mean. Before you post try using the quick search function near the top of the page.

If you enter x-com, you'll find we've covered this ground plenty of times:
showthread.php?threadid=674&highlight=xcom
showthread.php?threadid=1686&highlight=xcom
showthread.php?threadid=1886&highlight=xcom

...so i can't play properly, also it crashes when i try to end my turn or sometimes when i trying to shoot down a alien craft.

Most problems are speed-related, but there are some in-game bugs that simply can't be fixed.

Yes. Well, why wouldn't they be? VDMSound is a SoundCard emulator, not a "slowdown" utility.

i think i need to use slow down software but i an't sure.

Yes. That is the case. Unfortunately, since XCOM uses "protected-mode", you can't use SPEEDSET with it.

You can try other "slow-down" programs but they cause their own, rather unpleasant ,side effects. There's also a Windows version but, unfortunately, it's also speed-sensitive and has it's own special problems.

Your best hope is that it will run in the next version of DosBox. Their present version will not run it at all, but the one in development now has support for "protected mode".

Yes, after taking some proper time to seach through the forum i have come across many threads posted about X-com and have done everything i can do to make it stable i am now at the point with other ppl where the game will crash for a number of reasons

mainly these can be avoided if u load up the game again and do s.thing different but if like me i can't do one terriost misson cause and soon as i hit the end turn button and its the aliens go they do s.thing to make my system crash

One thing i've been trying is getting the gold version of TFTD but have had no luck finding it on the net. If someone can direct me to a site to download x-com Terror From The Deep Gold version it would be very helpful

btw: my first post was made late at night and i was desperate to get x-com TFTD working so i wasn't in my right mind at the time 😜 next time my post won't be like a rabbit caught in headlights and will make more sense thx's 😉

So now you're stuck where all the rest of us are...*heh* Welcome to the club.

Hopefully, many of these will work properly once you're running it in an emulated environment, but I expect that some will simply never go away as they are problems with the original game code.

We ask that people not ask these questions here. It attracts the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of people. If you can't Google it, we probably couldn't help anyway.

I do recommend some of the fan sites out there:
http://www.llamalicious.com/xcom/index.html
http://www.xcomufo.com/

The Xenocide and UFO2000 projects look interesting.

Not a problem. We just ask that people do a Quick Search on their question to save all of us time and typing. If you're lucky, might actually come across a pre-packaged solution.

It's more like a "work-in-progress". I was able to do some preliminary testing with XCOM2 and the DosBox Beta and was able to run the 1st portion of the game (floppy version).

Unfortunately it crashed horribly at the 1st assault on a UFO, so it's "not there yet".

I heard this before.
Too bad i don't seem to capable of shooting down an UFO myself.

Somebody sent me a savegame when an ufo was shot down. But the game didn't crash.

Could you send me a savegame where an ufo is shotdown and your crew is flying towards it and confirm that it will crash ??

then i will see if it happends at my place as well.
(preferable with xcom1 (as i don't have number 2 😉

Water flows down the stream
How to ask questions the smart way!

It's possible that the crash may be "game-version-specific". I haven't seen the crash with my CD version, as I've yet to get that one working at all.

*makes note*
*not sure to do with note*
*ponders why note is in hand*
*throws note away*

then i will see if it happens at my place as well.

Will try. So far, I've only been able to get XCom2 running.

*repeats previous cycle*
