Hi everyone.

Sorry for barging in like this, but I can't think of any group of folks better to ask this question on. I hope you'll have patience with me, as I am a little slow.

I've been running DOSBox for a while now, playing my old games and having a great time. Because I use a monitor with a native resolution of 1680x1050, often times I find that the native resolution of a game is far too small to play reasonably in a window (which I prefer). Therefore, I set aspect=true and scaler=hq3x, to increase the quality and size to some extent. I also use windowresolution=1280x1024.

For a long while, this worked fantastically. I could play any game in a reasonably large window, with quality that was acceptable.

Fast forward to this past week, when I updated the video drivers for my GTX 275 to version 197.13. After I did this, for some reason all of my games now run in tiny little portions of the upper-left of the 1280x1024 DOSBox window. Indeed, even the DOS prompt itself runs only in this portion of the window.

I'm really baffled, seeing as I didn't touch DOSBox's conf file at all, and instead I just updated my video drivers. Is there any settings I might be able to wrangle with in order to get back to a workable 1280x1024 windowed mode, running with a hq3x scaler? I've been rooting through FAQs and Wikis, but I've just come up empty handed each time. I really hope there's a solution besides rolling back the drivers.

Any help would be appreciated... and sorry if this was a dumb question!

which output do you use ?
You don't mention it, but it is the most important setting for setups like you want.

change your output= to sth else
ddraw upscaling is no longer supported on win7/vista with the latest nvidia drivers
what is your OS btw?

I am in your debt, sir! Running with output=opengl solved this problem handily.

I had no idea that scaler support was dropped with ddraw on the latest nVidia drivers. And I am indeed running on Windows 7 Professional x64.

Thank you for the assistance.

hi,
i have a similar problem on linux:
i am useing:

windowresolution=1200x900
output=opengl
aspect=true
scaler=hq3x

When i use normal3x the image will scale up to the given resolution. But with scaler=hq3x the window will not change its size no matter what i try.

I still use a .72 CVS build with opengl-hq support. Should probably take the time to try a .73 CVS build now....

I think I'm using gulikoza's build (from the link robertmo provided). It has the openglhq output.
