I got: http://vdmsound.sourceforge.net/files/VDMSoun … 0.4.update2.zip and the config program for it. Runs nice. These are the settings I used:

I used the WinXP midi, so no need for emulation.
The only thing needing to emulate was the soundblaster to hear the voices and EMS so the game has enough memory. The voices go good. But when I open a door, it crashes with an unknown opcode message.

SoundBlaster settings:

Port: 0x280 (Other ports just freeze when it plays a sound)
IRQ: 7
8 Bit DMA: 1
16 Bit DMA: 5
DSP ver: 4.05 (SoundBlaster 16)
Out: Dev: Primary Sound Driver, buffer: 200 ms

VDMSound is an excellent util but it's not the best for DOTT (or any other 'early' LucasArts adventure titles). Please check out SCUMMVM.

http://scummvm.sourceforge.net/

Grab the Win32 binary install and play away. This runs DOTT VERY well and you can set the emulator up to antialias the graphics so it looks smoother (better/different depending on your stance!).

They also added support for Revolution's Beneath a Steel Sky game as well 😀 Apparently Revolution are also 'assisting' the team add Broken Sword 1 execution as well which is very cool (of everyone!).

Best of luck with SCUMMVM - I think it's great 😀
