Hi!

Having trouble getting FT2 (2.08&2.09) to play nice.

Running latest VDMS (2.04+update2).
Settings:
EMS=16MB
DPMI=Enabled
POPF Workaround=Enabled
VESA=Disabled
HIMEM=Enabled with UMBs
Cap DOS Timer freq=On (Otherwise FT2 dumps loads of static on me)
Buffers=Both 75ms (Tried 10, 30 and 7500 also)
DMA Poll=1/3 (Tried 5/15, 5/10, 1/5, 2/5 and 1/2 also)

Right.
In FT2, when I play a mod, any mod, nothing happens.
If I wait a while, the o-scopes will start moving slowly, and if I wait even longer the notes will start playing, albeit really slowly with that evil looping you get.

Now, here's the fun thing:
If I minimise the window for a short while then restore it, I will get smooth sound (albeit with a few clicks and pops).
If I minimise the window for ages, I get smooth sound for ages!

I can play with the sample rate, toggle interpolation, stop and start the mod, jump do diff patterns, load a new mod, toggle the channels on/off, whatever and it will still play smooth!

Well, for a while. After that while is over it goes back to being all crappy again. 🙁

Messing about with the DMA polling ant buffers just alters how long you have to minimise the window for.
With some settings, you still get crapped-out sound even with the minimise-the-window trick. The settings listed first are the ones I found least pessium.

This is totally weird - any ideas why it's happening? Anyone??

Timer-problem. SPEEDSET can help if FT is not protected-mode.
Cheers,
V.

DOS Tracker programs have a history of not running well with NT operating systems:

Sorry. I know that's like asking Dracula to drink Holy Water. *heh*

QBIX THANKS VERY VERY MUCH... I WANT TO KISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FT2 IS WORKING ON XP WITH THIS DOSBOX VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://files.pixelz.org/dev/dosbox/dosboxcvs.zip

ITS NECESATY INCREASE SPEED EMULATION WITH CTRL-F12!!!!!!

AT MOMENT I CANNOT USE INTERPOLATION IN FT2 BECAUSE COMSUME MUCH CPU, AND STEREO IS NOT ENABLED....
REALLY PROGRAM IS NOT VERY USABLE BECAUSE EMULATION CONSUME LOT CPU BUT IM SURE THAT WILL BE OK VERY SOON.

I HOPE THAT NEXT UNOFICIAL DOSBOX RELEASE WILL BE DEFINITIVE

THANKS AGAIN 😀
