Hi there,

if just a few questions about dosbox.

I came to the dosbox by accident when seeing some old books about qbasic. Because the graphicmode of qbasic isn't working on pure modern WinXP-PC's, I remembered dosbox - and there it's working fine 😀

When I enter "ver" into the dosbox, then it's reorted:
"DOSBox version 0.74 Reported DOS version 5.00."

Does this mean, that this dosbox is exacliy working like the former Dos 5.0?

Is there no upgrade to the last pure Dos 6.22 possible?

Ähm... is dosbox a development from scratch to simmulate Dos, or did the developers use old dos-code to emulate a dospc - like the emulators of a c64 or sinclair spectrum?

Thanks for information,
PepperP

As far as I know, I think that DosBox was written from scratch, though I could be wrong.

The DOSBox version you see the with "ver" command is just there for compatibility purposes to satisfy old games.

You can change the ver yourself to be anything you want.

DOSBox does not exactly work like any DOS. It's only emulates what is need to get DOS games working.
