I just got the game and when I tried to install the install the install screen comes up. It asks me to which drive I want to install to and when it says ready to install I press enter and it asks for disk 1. T already have disk 1 in the floppy drive. Here is the way I mounted. Mount C C:\oldgames Mount A A:\ -t floppy I even tried -label Amazon and it still doesn't accept my floppy. I'm running a HP 2.2 Ghz with 1G of ram. Any advice on how to do this.

what is your dosbox version and where have you got it from?
what is your Operating System?
post your mount lines and what is written under every mount line
post what is written after you type "mount"

I am using Dosbox 0.74. The OS is Windows XP Media Edition. Mount C C:\Oldgames Drive C is mounted as local directory C:\oldgames Mount A A:\ -floppy Drive A is mounted as local directory A:\ Then I type in A: Then z switches to A:\ Then I type install and the install screen comes up. It asks me what drive letter I want to use. When I hit enter it tells me that it will be installed as C:\AMAZON I hit enter again and it comes up as ready to install in C:\AMAZON I hit enter again start installing for a quarter of a second and then it says PLEASE INSERT DISK 1. Ive already have disk 1 in the floppy drive. This is what I need help with. These are original disks I got ofrf of Amazon.com. Do you understand my dilemma?

tried disk 2? and hit ctrl-f4 to inform dosbox about a change, try it with disk 1 too. (status window should show a message that it was updated)

is the label correct? tried all letters big: AMAZON? or all small?
do both floppies have exactly the same label?

If it doesn't help try images and Virtual Floppy Drive

Either you made a typo or your floppy mounting line is bad.

It should be mount a a:\ -t floppy

eL_PuSHeR why do you think his line is wrong? (my floppy also mounts as "local directory", no unique message like when you mount cdroms with -t)

Hey you guys I finally had success installing the damned game. You know how old disks can be on new systems. The old copy protection on the disk kept on fouling things up. But persistance paid off. I kept pushing ctl-f4 until it gave in. Thanks for the help.

hm.. a rather unusual what you say. Pressing ctrl-f4 only once for a disk should be enough

post content of "DOSBox Status Window" (in Windows: right click on its title bar -> edit)
enclose your dosbox's config file

was the label needed?
was the game actually asking for disk 1 or disk 2?
can you reproduce the installation with pushing less ctrl-f4 ?

-floppy != -t floppy

Sometimes things get stubborn like old floppies or floppy drives not getting it or copy protection of some sort. I'm just satisfied that I got it installed. Too many abandonware sites to tempt you. I'm just glad I have a legal copy now and was able to get it to work.

Could you copy the floppy to an image file? As apps that do that work on a
per-sector basis and report if something's wrong (and retry the sectors).
