Hi,

I am trying to find out the name of one older DOS game I used to play. It was a 3D arcade shooter; flying above the surface of Earth (and some other areas - Mars - as well) in a "helicopter" (sci-fi setting), shooting military areas and enemies below, earning many bonuses to your gun(s) and ship.

The game was shareware, first two missions were named "Rookie" and "Seek and destroy". Your craft was seen from a 3rd person view. I am not sure if it was accelerated or not. Released perhaps around 1995/1996...

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

Unfortunately, no 😀 This is too much realistic; the game I am recalling was much more sci-fi based; player's chopper was probably completely unrealistic (without airscrews...).

Also, there was no way to influence the movement in z-axis; the only controls were forward/backward/strafe/rotate - and the "helicopter" copied the terrain profile (in constant altitude above-the-terrain).

Sound like SWIV 3D in some ways, particularly the terrain-hugging aspect, but the mars/sci-fi part doesn't fit.

Yeah, that's it! Thanks a lot!

The Mars was present in further campaigns (iirc the demo had only Earth).
