Hello folks,
i m using DOSBOX primarily for playing DOS games and using DOS, although i dont see any particular reason while people specifically use DOSBOX for Dosgames, they simply can be run from the cmd interpreter.
one difference i noticed was that, while opening cmd (running DOS games) from Windows a mere 472KB of memory being used while compared to DOSBOX (with DOS games running )was 44MB. but the games were running more smoothly.
How ever my problem is with the sound ,I m playing Prince of Persia with no sound for past few weeks. And without sound its no fun.
I h' changed some settings like cycle and the speaker but no sound. I h' seen many post in GOOGLE about this issues, but their seem no solution.
Maybe i h' missed, many people may h' had this problem, can someone suggest something for this. Any suggestion is welcomed.......

I M NO PROGRAMMER, I THINK DOSBOX IS GREAT,,,,IT'S JUST THE TERM I SEE MOST OFTEN. DOSGAME EMULATOR . SINCE DOSGAMES CAN BE RUN FROM WIN ALSO, BUT DOSBOX MAKES IT RUN BETTER, EXCEPT FOR THE SOUND'S.
I H' XP SP3
I think your problem is solved by fixing your keyboard, it seems your capslock key is broken and replaces ave with '... Could be a virus or trojan as well...
Yeah, probably a trojan...
Good luck with your questions...

I m just a novice user of DOSBOX and do not use too often: working with cmd is something which i m not cut off for.
i just Resotred my backup yesterday, no chance of trojan or malware here:
How do i replace capslock i.e., ave with ' ( i just dont understand ) 😒
Its really dull playing POP without sounds.
Floppy, don't forget that even 32-bit XP's DOS is the highly flawed built in DOS emulator, NTVDM, which has huge compatibility issues, crappy sound and does nothing to shield you from hardware problems, like speed issues. This is not to even mention that many versions of modern Windows no longer has the NTVDM, so that this is not an option for these Windows users, let alone non Windows users (Linux, Mac OS, etc.) DOSBox is the single most important tool for classic DOS gamers, regardless of platform, even XP 32-bit. Learn to use it and love it.
I tried D-Fended , seems a better tool than DOS-BOX0.74 with all the GUI, and i plan to install MS-DOS here too , i installed POP (first version) about to finish. Even here their is so sound:
Man how can someone play without sound: Prince of Persia was freeware with no CD, n setup......so i can't apply that method in this case:
I Guess their is no Solution for this, emulating DOS Games is something admirably achievable by DOSBOX:

None of these proves the game is freeware. Prince 4D is an unofficial version made by fans, but is built upon the original, copyrighted game. Anyway, the Prince4D version works just fine with sound. Maybe go buy a sound card.
Huh It's nice that DBGL uses an interface similar to D-Fend's interface. I remember helping the author of D-Fend a lot with suggestions and bug testing the crap out of it. 😀
Like Dominus said their never was a problem: actually i hadn't connected the speaker to the PC Cabinet.
When POP run frm the cmd line ;the game starts with its familiar sound, nothing said here, but i was hoping the same sound would be heard while playing from DOSBOX .
Sorry for my novicity, may be i was expecting too much:
