The rare and elusive Am5x86-160 ADZ or a Pentium Overdrive 83mhz?

I did a few tests myself with the Am5x86, Cx586 and a POD83, along with a Voodoo3. Jedi Knight ran much better on the POD83. Windows ran best overall on the Am5x86 160. Sandra ALU benchmarks show faster scores on the AMD chip, while the FPU bench is clearly the Pentium's game. The POD is a troublesome chip and it doesn't seem to get along with mobo cache sometimes and this kills its non-FPU performance. The Cx5x86 120 fits in between.

If you search the forum you'll find a lot of talk about these chips. Pretty recently too. We've had benchmark threads and lots of deep philosophical pondering.

BTW the ADZ chip is not the only one that will do 160. It's also not the only model that will sometimes not be able to do 160. 😁 I've never heard it said that these chips are rare tho!

Oh and my POD will do 100MHz! 40x2.5. 😎 The Am160 is still faster for non FPU stuff tho. I have a fairly late model SiS PCI 486 mobo and still I can not get the L2 cache to work with the POD. It's enabled as far as I can tell but the benchmarks and mem tests don't see it.
