If it's decided already, is it going to be pure emulation or a wrapper?
I don't recall any of the glide wrappers (except possibly openglide) being multiplatform (having a compiled multiplatform version).

I don't know whether that is really decided by the devs but I could imagine that OpenGlide would be the way to go since that is open source and multiplatform (I've compiled aynd run it succesfully on OS X)
What worries me is that openglide is unmaintained for quite some time. But i agree about the wrapper approach yeah I don't think there is much point in emulating 3d hardware in the current generation of cpu's. Maybe when it's all 16 cores.
