I've been playing through the SSI forgotten realms series Pool of Radiance, Curse of Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, Pools of Darkness. I have been transferring my characters from game to game with no problems (thanks to advice I found on the forums) until I tried to transfer them from Secret of the Silver Blades to Pools of Darkness.

to move characters to the second and third installments of the series I removed the characters from the party to create character files and then simply move those files into the save folder of the next game. This however has not worked for transferring my characters from Silver Blades to Pools.

When I run Pools and go to add character to party and select "Secret" it gives an error message "can't locate SSB directory."

there is a second option for transferring characters to pools that allows you to load a saved game from Secret directly into Pools, so I transferred my save game data from Secret into the Pools save file, but I received the same error message as before.

I don't think this is DOSbox problem. I'm running Windows 7 and think that therein lies the problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The thought of having to play the final chapter of the series without my trusted characters is disheartening to say the least.

So are you using DOSBox or not? Because a game running in DOSBox isn't really going to be affected by Windows 7.

If you download a debug-enabled version of DOSBox, it will show you what files the program is trying to access when you try to import your characters. You can then adjust your mountings accordingly.

Yes, I am running the game on the DOSBox version .72.

I wish it to be more specific on how I mounted the game, but I didn't mount it. I downloaded it from the website oldgames.sk. The download included DOSBox .72 and had the game already mounted and ready to play.

This is my first experience using DOSBox and as all the work of mounting was done for me I'm still very ignorant as to how it works.

I have read the mounting instructions on the DOSBox website and if you would be so kind as to tell me which version is "a debug-enabled version of DOSBox" I will download it and see if I can figure it out.

Thank you very much for your help!!

And now Mr. Pusher will lock this thread and tell you to ask for help on the site where you downloaded it from. Bye!

actually I call for creative editing from one of the mods instead if it is possible for minimax to do some magic about that if he is around.

Anything that you'd like to explicitly point out instead of posting rubbish?

WD: creative editing is not rubbish. But why I said, creative editing is because sometimes topics can be saved by editing certain stuff and make them good afterwards.

Finring: You better ask the guys where you downloaded the game from. We only support originals only.
