Hey guys I could really need more 3dbench scores for my current "time machine" project.

I recommend using v1.0 as it's more precise with slower machines (at least that's what I found during my benching session).

You can download this utility here: http://www.simtel.net/product/view/id/51823

It just takes a minute or less to run!

Please post what CPU, Ram, Cache and video card you are using!

THANK YOU!

EDIT:

We could use this template:

CPU:
Mainboard:
Amount of RAM:
Amount of L2 Cache:
Video card:
3dbench score:

EDIT: I will consolidate all scores in this first post:

Thanks!

L2 Cache usually shows up at the POST screen!

Regarding your score, it seems a bit low...

retro games 100 got 50 points on a DX2-66 and he also used a PCI board and a S3 video card. Yours should easily outperform that machine...

I would expect maybe 70 points?

Testing 3 Intel 486 CPUs

I'm not sure of the exact model of graphics, I'll update tomorrow when I have time to open the cases and have a peer inside. I'll also update with scores from my other machines.

How do I determine the amount of L2 cache?

That's fine! A rough idea if it's ISA, VLB or PCI and the brand is all we need

I believe 486 boards usually had 256k of L2 cache. This should show up at the post screen, or you can use System Speed Test v4.78 (Which I also used for this benchmark table):

CPU: Intel 486 DX2 66
Mainboard: unkown
Amount of RAM: 16MB
Amount of L2 Cache: 256KB
Video card: Realtek unknown ISA
3dbench score: 5.9

I don't see anything to identify the video card but its obviously not as good as some of the cards other people have installed.

5.9? That is very very low. That's 386SX performance. Something isn't right there...

You can run this tool and see if something seems odd: http://forum.benchmarkreviews.com/showthread.php?t=12287

At the end you can write a PCX file (image file) and post it here and we can take a look and maybe spot something!

It does seem to be a bit low there was an error about CPU in protected mode but I didn't do anything about it.

ah now I see the problem, have to have turbo on then I get 25.01 on speedsys and
12.1 on 3dbench

Sweet!

The CPU now works as it should. And I guess your ISA video card is quite a dog 🤣

Yeah it looks like it, I remember trying to play relentless on it and it was fine for a while and then when I went into a particular room and it was just a black screen instead of the actual room making finishing the game impossible luckily I managed to play it on something else.

I do have another ISA card which has UMC um85c408af on it but don't know anything else about it and an S3 805 VLB card, and a bigger older ISA card that has NT-200B on it that was in it before I put the current card in it.

allright, I'm gonna bench my IBM PS1/pro that has a 1MB isa cirus vga and a 486slc2/40mhz upgrade cpu 😜

edit: here we are 😊

CPU: Cyrix 486slc2/40mhz (clip-on 386sx/20 upgrade with 1kb L1 cache)
Mainboard: IBM PS1/pro 2123 model , no idea what it uses...
Amount of RAM: 16MB
Amount of L2 Cache: I have no clue.... it is a 386sx/20 machine
Video card: 1MB CL-GD5429 , ISA
3dbench score: 13.3

The util I used to do that benchmark was speedsys http://forum.benchmarkreviews.com/showthread.php?t=12287

3dbench is the util that Mau1wurf1977 wants everyone to use to bench cpu and video card

I didn't know how much cache I had untill I had a good look at it starting up.

np, if I get a util that can display the extra info I will post here... the IBM bios displays only memory count on startup, no hardware config whatsoever... Also the bios is limited to the extreme basics too and you use a boot-disk to enter it... typical brand-name bios on the era 😁

here is the machine (2123 pro PS1 model)

yeah, it is a nice 386 machine, I had it since it was brand new in ~1991 😁
back on the topic, if I am to believe this program, then I have 512kb L2 cache...???! I find it hard to believe it though but you never know...
