Slowing down

Hi,

Don't know if this is the right forum, but does the architecture of VDMSound allow for an option to slow down an application?

VDMSound works perfectly, but if a game runs too fast it's a pain trying to slow it down. I've tried various slowdown programs but it's either not working at all or affecting the mouse/sound.

If it's possible, I think it would be great if there'd be an option to slow down the program you run with VDMSound.

Sorry if this question has already been asked # times, didn't look back much.

Greets,

Joost

Yes, you can do it and sometimes is imperative. Right click on the .VLP shortcut and edit its ADVANCED properties. Goto PERFORMANCE and from there you have two different options to play with. Cap DOS Timer frequency and Try to reduce CPU Usage. I am not very sure about the first one (I think it reduces the number of interrupts occurances/second of the pit timer). I mostly use the second one. You even have a slider bar to adjust the desired CPU usage. If you are running WinXP, it's easy to monitor. Just press CTRL-ALT-DEL or CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to bring up the task monitor. Click the performance tab and check that your CPU isn't running at 100%.

Also, use the utility SPEEDSET.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Just remember the warning of using it with protected-mode games.
