Hello,

I was talking to freind about classic games and I mentioned Moraff's Revenge. Just talking about it got me thinking about fond childhood memories of my father and I playing that game for hours a day. It was the very first RPG that I had ever played. I was about nine years old when it came out. anyway after talking about it I got a huge craving to play it and relive those memories.

I downloaded Moraff's Revenge Advanced v3.3 (1989)(Moraffware) [Adventure, Role-Playing (RPG)].zip and D-Fend Reloaded. after installing D-Fend I unzipped the files in the moraffs revenge file into the VirtualHD folder of D-Fend. I read tutorials and threads on D-Fend but all the examples used games that only had a single .exe file and no setup file. in the moraffs revenge zip file there are 44 files. I know the file to start the game is BEGIN.EXE and im guessing the setup file is INSTALL.BAT but I have tried adding them manually and adding them with wizard in D-Fend. I got the game to start but when I try to create new character or try to start game with the pre-made first character I get a message that says " Path/file access error in line 49152 of BEGIN at address 01A6:0867"

If someone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it

It could be a problem with the name of the folder. Try changing it to something more DOS-friendly, like MORAFFRV. It could also be a problem with the files you downloaded, in which case your best bet would be to try and get an actual physical copy from Ebay or another similar site.

Thanks for the reply. I tried changing the name of the folder in in the virtualHD folder. it was moraffs-revenge and I changed it to just moraff. Still the same problem. I then tried downloading the game from a few different websites but each version I got gave me the same problem 😖

The problem is caused by something very trivial, and it's exactly the kind of thing you so often run into with downloaded warez copies.

The game in question is still sold by the copyright holder/distributor here and here. Perhaps you can get support from them after purchasing a licensed copy of the game.

You can get the "beginner's" (i.e. shareware) version of the game here; it does not have the same problem.
