LBA 1 DOS version

G'day all,
LBA is causing me some problems. If I run the game with no sound or music, everything works fine. Using VDMS for MIDI, the game reports back that it can't inialise the hardware and drops back to Windows. Selecting SB16, I get music but the game stops just after the intro where you have to type in your name.
Using VDMS for sound, no option works except SB16. But the sound is all distorted and the intro runs very slowly. I've tried changing the DMA polling, etc, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
Any thought would be appreciated.

SPECS:
WINXP
AMD 2200XP
512Mb DDR RAM
120Gb HD
SBLive!
A7V333 motherboard
128 Mb Geforce 4 Ti4200

Run a search; Little Big Adventure has been covered before, and I think was resolved.

Yes, it’s my fault.

I've done a search, but there wasn't an exact solve that works for me.

That's because if you're running XP, there isn't an "exact solve". Your best bets are LBAVM at http://www.yaz0r.net/lba.php or LbaWin at http://lbawin.akoonet.com/

These will need the original CD. The data came from this thread:

Only other possibilities are dual-booting or some form of "PC emulation". DosBox can't do it, VPC may or may not (and costs >$200).

Well then, give FunnyFrog our thanks. His/Her name should be in big bold letters in the ReadMe. In fact the whole ReadMe is something to praise, organized and detailed.

My only gripe is that the executable it creates is named LBAWIN.EXE, which most people would presume is a Windows executable, is still a DOS executable. Of course, that's a pretty minor gripe. Shouldn't have included the "wall" cheat/hack though...*heh*

In any case, VDMSound works well with it, except that "SB16" doesn't seem to work (all noise), SB-Pro2 worked fine instead.
Haven't tested MIDI yet...(was testing with CD-music).

Also, chose "Don't know" for VESA and that worked fine with my GeForce3 Ti200.
