I'm new to the who AWE64. My extent of games usually was on a SB16 ISA or a SB128 PCI back in the day through Windows 95/98SE
This card came highly recommended for DOS, so I grabbed one off ebay and it is pleasantly working great. When reading Wiki there is a SimmConn expansion module available for purchase and ordered one, also got 2 32mb 72pin EDO's off ebay so I could stick one in the expansion module and max out the 28MB usable. This is about all I know about the card... I read this will help speed up directsound and such.
My question is... is there anything to setting it up? I see you can use Diagnose.exe to see if ram is ok but will I have to do anything to make games use it in general? I don't even really understand soundfonts and how they are used. Does Aweutil.exe have to be used? I don't have it in my autoexec.bat in win98se currently.
Primary motive is DOS/Windows Gaming
