I've used and seen many tweakguides for OS's like 98se/ME, but as hardware got faster where there better tweaks out for that hardware?

When searching alot I usually find guides for 128mb ram, 20gb HD, 500mhz type systems.

I'm running a faster system and just wondered if there are more optimized tweaks for my type of system?

Dlink 10/100 NIC PCI
SoundBlaster AWE64 Gold (w/simmconn gold 32mb expansion)

What you could do is look what hardware/software is the last one supported by 98/ME and go for that.
This is a good starting point:

Thanks! but thats were I started with alot of updates and programs.

I didn't know Cacheman 5.50 was as decent as it seems with tweaks, I'm using that now.

Installed X-setup also but really haven't used it much.

Just wondered if there are some big ones I could be missing for a bit of a faster system than win98se was designed around.

Not really. 9x had some issues with newer hardware but those are all known. Like the memory size. the more you go over 512MB, the bigger the chance you need to do some tweaks to make your system stable.
Afa software is concerned, it basically has the same support as 2k (bit worse though).

What those tweaks did was basically to make sure 98SE and/or ME would work reliably. If it worked, it was already so fast there was no reason to tweak it for more speed anyway.
When you get 98SE or ME running on such a new system (like >2Ghz, >100GB harddrive etc) it'll run very quickly. You could almost say, the hardware became too heavy for 98SE and ME instead of too slow 😉
