386dx33 box with a soundscape s-2000 and a yamaha sw60xg. In windows 3.1 midi can be played on the sw60xg, which is routed through the soundscape. So the cards work.

In dos 5, I have set emm386 up so the machine has plenty of memory available for x-wing. Xwing install doesnt give the message about xms/ems/etc.

If I select adlib or sb pro alone, I get sound and music. If I select gm or roland for music, I get no music. Surely gm should work?

The sw60xg program efcon, and the soundscape program ssinit, both run from autoexec. The yamaha midi is at 320, soundscape at 350.

I can't see what's wrong - any ideas?
