Hello again guys, after successfully being able to now play Nascar1 and Indycar1 by Papyrus, now I'm wanting to shift everyone's attention to Nascar and Indycar2.

After freshly installing the games and trying to start them up in DosBox here are the error messages I'm getting,

Indy Car 2:

Illegal command: Indycar.pif

Paintshop.exe This program must be run under Win32

Nascar2:

"unable to find Nascar2.exe in"

I assume these are common errors that many of you all have seen before. Now what I'm trying to find out now is how too sort out these glitches and errors so I can run the games. Let me know if any of you all have any experience running Indycar 2 and Nascar 2 in DosBox. Thanks again for your time and help. Take care.

Indy Car 2

Run the DOS executable if you have one. Not the Windows executable.

Nascar 2

Check your mounts.
Check that the file exists.
Verify your game isn't corrupted.

We aren't your game fixing service. Spend 5-10 minutes trying to get the game to work yourself and actually read the error messages so you can figure out what to fix before you post here.

Well for your information I have tried numerous things with dosbox and with the Nascar2 and Indy car2 games and so far nothing has worked. That was rude and hateful, I don't even know you, what did I do to make you so upset? Anyone else want to add anything?

Do you want any other rude reply? If not stick to what DosFreak wrote, especially the last paragraph.

I don't know what the hell is going on here, earlier when I first joined this place I was asking about how to run some games and I was nice and everyone else then was nice right back and I thanked them and everything is fine, and now everyone is jumping down my throat what's the deal???

Not only that I've not only have spent days and weeks trying to get these games to run. I've tried other things that other people have tried by searching various message boards on similar topics, so I've spent more than enough time and effort into trying to get these games to work. I've tried reinstalling them I've tried different settings with dosbox and different settings with the games. This place and this fourm is my last resort. Again this place was so nice when I first joined and now it's already gone to hell. What's wrong with you people?

Nothing, but there is something fundamental wrong with your description of the problem,
it reads like "oh dear it doesn't work *cry* help me *cry*" instead of "hey people look
i've done these exact steps to install the game according to guide/manual xyz and then
this is the error message, other things i've tried are yzx which change/don't change the message".

Well first I saw that another person on this message board
http://www.cartracinghq.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=551
was having the same exact problem I was and so I decided to try the method from this person's first response from this other guy who said to change the memsize to 25600. He said once he did that he could get icr2 to run. So I tried and I still have that "could not find exe in" error message. Then I tried doing what another guy said to do and that was to make a "indycar" directory not a ICR2 directory but a regular "indycar" directory and copy the files from icr2 to that directory hoping that it will trick dosbox into thinking that game is indycar1. So far that hasn't worked for me either. I"m now wondering if it has something to do with either my version of Windows7 or not enough RAM or something of that nature.

There's still something basic missing in your report: how you installed the
game, specifically how you mounted the drives. This is most likely the reason
why you get that unfinished-looking error message. There are some guide threads
on the board that explain how to install a game inside dosbox step by step.

Oh ok, that's something I'll go back and do, since origionally because of Windows7 N2 and ICR2's installer won't even work so the only way I can install the games are to go into the installation cd and literally drag the game files from the cd onto the harddrive. I thought that since that's what I did with N1 and ICR1 and I was able to finally get them to work I thought if I did some more minor tweaking I could get these to work as well. But I'll try reinstalling the games via dosbox and see what happens.

Update: Now after installing the games within dosbox I able to run both of them perfectly. Nascar2 has no problems at all. The only other problem I'm having with Indy Car2 is when I'm trying to caliberate the controller the game is not letting me do it. Instead the game appears to be reading my computer's mouse. For those familiar with ICR2's caliberation area you first go to options, then to set controls, then you select steering with your arrorw key and hit enter. Now usually for other papyrus games such as ICR1 and Nascar1 once you do that the game takes you to a blank blue screen that says "steer to the right then to the left" and once you do that with your joystick or wheel, it then takes you back to the set controls menu. But instead of getting the almost blank screen it quickly shifts out of it written by the sterring are on the set controls menu it reads either "mouse >" or "mouse X". Now I'm wondering how to keep the computer's mouse and or keyboard from interferring with control calibration. Any thoughts? Thanks again.
