DOSBox is a standard usermode application and as such *not* capable of creating such problems.
Reboot, then check your hardware and installed software.

since i've downloaded it, though, my comp has been very slow and I know for a fact we are not low on space.

Where did you download it?

If your computer is slow even if dosbox isn't running, it certainly isn't the fault of dosbox.

I dont remeber where I downloaded it, but it was not DOSBox.com. That's all I remember.

There's your problem...

Everything else works fine, it even plays games well, it's just that the computer acted slow after downloading it.

Then complain to where you downloaded it from.
