I just bought a couple of older generation top end graphics cards, and the only PSU's I have lying around are 350-500 watt OEM's.

One of those OEM's is running an I3 OC'ed with 4Gig Ram and 2x ATI 4770's perfectly fine.

However I read on the reviews of these cards (ATI x1950xtx and 2900xt) that I need 30A on the VRAIL.

Whats a VRAIL, how do I check if it has 30A and what are the chances of me being able to run these cards with a cheap and nasty 350-500 PSU?

I had to use Molex to PCI-ex adaptors in my main machine for the 4770's.

What does it mean if the connectors are not already there on the PSU? Is that a bad thing?

I presume the VRAIL is the 12v line on your PSU.
Those toprange cards require a strong output in the PSU's 12v line(s) because they eat so much power.

Edit:And about your PSU's, PSU's are NOT created equal!!
It's important to know what brand you got. One brand 550W PSU may be MUCH more crappy then a good quality 350W.

Also, these days I don't even look at how much Watt a PSU is, but only what it's maximum output on the 12v rails is 😉

It's my "dummy" guide to PSUs 🤣

If there are 4x PCIe 6 pin plugs, you can be assured it will handle a SLI or CF system.
