Dosbox 074

I'm running D-Fend Reloaded to start CHAMP Asterocks using default settings but when the game starts up, the sound initializes but makes an irritating humming sound the entire time it's running until you change the sound settings over to PC Speaker.

PC Speaker works fine but there is a loss of sounds that are suppose to play. I've run the game directly through windows XP Pro using VDMSound and the game's music and sound is fine.

I've tried many sound settings and the same result. Using Dosbox versions 070-073 there is no sound at all when the game starts, and reads "Cannot Initialize sound Card"

This is really bugging me. Any ideas? The compatability for this game is supposed to be supported in 070

Run LOADFIX before running the game.

Thanks. Works. The asterocks.cfg file isn't being save with the new settings though, so it must be changed each time since the game fails to initialize the first time.

I tried that earlier but the first time it wasn't apparent, and the card doesn't initialize when you first start the game. Seems you have to go to the sound options after launching the game and reset the card back to sound blaster.

The opening title music doesn't play since it doesn't initialize at first run. As long as it's working now, aside from the title music piece. Simple fix though. I just now added "loadfix.com" to the D-Fend STARTING option before the game runs so now I get the title tune to play.

Thanks again.

The game is correctly saving its config file for me, and I don't have to go into the options to change sound to SoundBlaster, it defaults to it. Maybe your previous config file was getting in the way; you can just delete it and start over, making sure you run LOADFIX every time before running the game... then it initializes the SB and saves the config from the very first run.
