I've been gifted a Gametheater XP.

I like the look of it because with a few bucks worth of plugs and a little bit of soldering, I should be able to manage 4 line-level inputs, and use it to connect all my retro PCs and MIDI synths (MT-32 and future SC-55) to a single set of speakers and headphones.

It has a single 1/8" stereo jack on the card, a single "AUX2 IN" header on the card, stereo RCA line-in on the breakout box, and a 1/4" dual-purpose microphone/line-in jack on the breakout box.

Has anyone used one of these before? Apparently the driver disk includes a copy of the Yamaha soft synth, but the disk has been lost.

my friend has one... he never said anything about the soft synth.... I can ask him if it does and if so I can probably hook you up with it

too bad there's no drivers for 64-bit vista/7... my friend was so pissed off to find it won't work! it's one awesome sound card... he now has to put up with onboard audio

I've just been to the electronics store, I have a bag full of assorted plugs, sockets, and cables.

I'll post some pics later on. 😁

OK, all set up. I took the opportunity to move my P3 rig into a case that actually has sides.

Full setup (Click for very high-res image, 4.1MB)

Back panel The plate below the Voodoo 2 is my custom-made plate to give me access to the internal AUX2 header. I wish the motherboard came with the back plate!

Back of custom panel Pretty simple really. You can see in the foreground out-of-focus where it connects to the GTXP.

P3 in its new home, set up and connected The visible grey cable goes to the Line Out of the CMI8330 ISA card in my Socket 7 rig. The CT2800 and MT-32 are connected to the two rear inputs. A future SC-55 would be connected to the 1/4" jack on the front of the breakout box. It's labelled with a little microphone symbol, but it can be toggled to line-in with the control panel software.
