I'm trying to run a 1996 cd using DOSBox 0.74 in Windows 7
If I insert the cd and try to run the setup/ install using DOSBox 0.74 it tells me, “This program must be run under Microsoft Windows.” Is there anyway I get this program to run?
I used the following command lines:
Z:\>SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 T6

Z:\>mount C “C:\DOS\”
Drive C is mounted as local directory C:\DOS\

Z:\>mount D E:\ -t cdrom
MSDEX installed.
Drive D id mounted as CDRom E:\

Z:\>C:

C:\>D:

D:\>install
This program must be run under Microsoft Windows.

D:\>setup
This program must be run under Microsoft Windows.

D:\>mssetup
This program requires Microsoft Windows.

Isn't Windows 95 at least partially DOS based?

It runs on top of DOS, even if MS wants you to believe otherwise...still..so?
The message couldn't be clearer "This program requires Microsoft Windows".
Which...clearly DosBox doesn't provide, now, does it. It would probably be called WinBox if it did.
