Anybody remember these cards for many MAC's and MAC Clone machines ???

I'm looking at on right now and had to peek inside.

I purchased this from CompUSA back in the day for my Power Center 150 MAC Clone, also the machine I purchased a Voodoo 5 PCI graphics card for.

The box still has the original Power PC, 150MHz CPU Card and COAST module...

The price tag is still on the box at $199.99 USD

The one I purchased was the G3 400MHz/512K Cache model.

No matter where you go, there you are...

I have a Sonnet G3 in my Power Tower Pro, also a 400mhz, but mine is a 1MB cache model. I didn't purchase it new, though... it was already installed when I got the machine a year or so ago.

I have several in my Macs. Some are Sonnets, some are from other manufacturers. My best one is in my PM 7500. It's the G4 1ghz. I also have a few G3 ones and some ZIF modules for the Powermac G3, though my fastest ZIF is only 500mhz G4.

I bought a G3-500 for the Powermac 7200 to use in an experiment on my 6500. I figured since the 6500 has the CPU soldered to the motherboard like the 7200, and that the CPU upgrade for the 7200 fits in a PCI slot, that it might also work in a 6500 with a little tinkering to the GESTALT ID in the driver. Like most other things, that got pushed on a back burner when my piles of vintage gear became life threateningly high. I only decided to try it when the cache slot upgrades started to dry up and Sonnet was blowing out the 7200 G3 upgrades before discontinuing them.

How far did you get sliderider? Are you saying a pci sonnet upgrade for a 7200 works in the pci slot of a 6500, or has the rainy day for trying that out not yet arrived?

Still waiting. I don't have room to turn around right now, so digging my 6500 out from the pile it is resting under is out of the question at the moment.

The pile of parts and equipment sounds awefully familiar 😜 😁

I just found out, that the G3/400/512C card in my PM7300 a bit to slow for UT99 with a voodoo2 is.
I'll have to go for a faster one.

TBH you can get complete G4 and G5 macs for next to nothing these days. In the past 6 months I got a G4 (quicksilver) for $40 shipped, and a G5 for the same price (local pickup because it's a big heavy beast and shipping would be a killer).

I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O

I use an Apple-PCI-Dos Card. That does not work on newer Systems due to power consumption issues.

perhaps you have a 1MB Version with 500 Mhz or faster that you do not use?
