Hi,

I have tested theses pci cards, boot+dos+windows = OK on
Pb4 abit
64mb edo
256k l2
--->
s3 1 mo
cirrus logic 1mo
diamond steal 220 4mo
3dfx 4mo
benshee 16mo
3dfx 3000 16mo
ati rage 128 16mo (bad 3d drivers only opengl run ok and fast)
woodoo2 12mo
sli woodoo2 24mo (2x12)
Kyro 4000xt 64mo SDR
14 or 15 on 3dmark99 with 5x86 160 (4x40 256 l2)

Now with Pentium overdrive 83 to 100 (2.5 x 40) i do 448 on 3dmark99 with 3dfx 3000 /windows98e. I can do more on windows95.

With my other overdrive pentium83 (2.5 x 33) on
msi 4144
100mb fpm
256k l2

with kyro4000xt i do 334 on win98 or over 400 on win95
3dmark99 can run some more bench with the kyro4000xt than the 3dfx3 3000

Boot+dos ok but windows sometimes ok or not
Geforcemx440 (=geforce2) 64mo DDR
When i am on windows, 2D is ok but 3d games never run

I think that the DDR graphics card are not complatible for 486 PCI boards

I don't test all cards with the overdrive pentium 83/100 only with a 5x86/160.

I'm surprised a POD is fast enough to show a noticeable difference between a Kyro 4000 and a Voodoo 3. Incidentally, where did you get a Kyro in PCI? I thought all Kyro and Kyro II were AGP.

i'm french and i get it on hardware.fr board from a member, "-Hercule 3D prophet 4000xt 64Mo PCI: 6€"

Just when I finally managed to find a Voodoo 3 PCI at a reasonable price, now I have to find a 4000XT PCI. I already have one in AGP. Does it never end???

Spare part boxes are very important. Old hardware can crap out unexpectedly, leaving you in a panic.

What motherboard/chipset did you do this test on? UMC chipsets and Banshee don't seem to mix well for me.

Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.

I have a m919 with l2 256ko real+ l2 256ko fake.
With it, i can't use all pci cards,i think it's because it's not PCI 2.1 compliant than others boards. I destroyed the 4mb ram of a 3dfx 1 and it's very difficult to use PCI video card. I killed the motherboard by setting upside cpu ...🤣
