It allows for newer programs to be run in an older environment, such as using firefox 4 on a windows 98se computer to post this... 😁

I just decided to install it, just because.
I'm looking at the Steam support, although it is kind of moot since I have plenty of old Legacy computers to run my older games and such on.
It is an interesting concept none the less.
