I've seen this twice now. I do a clean Win95 install. I then run the Intel chipset driver for i440BX. Everything seems to go OK. During installation, it installs the "first fifo thing" for the primary hdd controller, and then reboots. When the desktop reappears, presumably it tries to install the "second fifo thing", and that's when I see a BSOD. I luckily managed to get out of this mess by rebooting and selecting safe mode. I then reran the chipset setup.exe again. I rebooted, and ran the OS in normal mode once more. When the desktop appeared, the "second fifo thing" correctly installed OK.
But I want to roll back to a previous saved HDD, just before I installed the Intel chipset driver, and try again. What do I have to do to make this chipset driver install correctly, without seeing the BSDO? I have a feeling it's something to do with the secondary HDD IDE connection where the CD-ROM drive is plugged in to the mobo. Thanks a lot for any help.
