I want to demonstrate the POST and was wondering if I could "prepare" memory so that it triggers a fault?

Like filing off some traces or something like that...

This sounds like a really interesting test. I hope someone provides some useful advice. I always wanted to try something like this. I thought about deliberately sending "ESD" in to a stick of RAM, and then seeing if the BIOS POST memory count fails, and also if MemTest picks up any problems.

This idea is a bit "random" though, because you won't know for sure if and by how much ESD has passed in to the chips. Still, it might be worth adding to your test run, just for a bit of fun.

Put adhesive tape over some of the memory modules contacts.

Will try this and some other things on the weekend. I have heaps of memory sticks, so no big deal if I break one or two 🤣

I also want to demonstrate some of the POST error beep codes. Will do some mucking around as well and see what scenarios I can come up with.

No RAM or no Video should be easy...
