I like to play my old Dos Games by booting directly from DOS 6.22. I have an ASUS motherboard which has an REALTEKALC 650 audio chip built directly into the motherboard. According to the specs there is a version A 3401 driver for this, but I haven't been able to find this.

My question is does VDM work with integrated audio chips, and does it work in DOS 6.22

Does it work in DOS 6.22?

The shost answer is: no.

The long answer, from the Beginner's guide to VDMSound v2.10:

First things first. VDMSound is a soundcard emulator with some additional features to enhance gameplay for DOS programs being run on a NT Operating system.

In this case, NT Operating System refers to Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

You've managed to completely miss the point of VDMSound, apparently. It emulates a Sound Blaster/AdLib/MPU-401 card and routes the output through Windows. No Windows, no sound.

Yes, it’s my fault.
