Has anyone had any positive experience getting an ISA graphics card to operate at 1024x768 and 32K or 64K colours in Win 3.11? Preferably on a 386/486.

If so, what graphics card was it? Was the display solid or all flickery?

Ati Mach64 is definetly not best ISA!!! card, because it only for PCI... and you are better off with a Tseng ET4000.

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

Clearly it's an ISA card and a PCI card cleverly grafted together! DUH!

The two Mach64 ISA cards I own would disagree with you. Mach64 IS one of the best because it's probably the last card released in ISA so it would have the most up to date feature set of any ISA card. At least I haven't come across a card with a later introduction date, but I'm sure there's probably at least one that I missed in my searches for information.

ugg. I wish ebay had the option to block members in searches. I like how he at least has pictures for his items. Unlike that one other seller that uses a blue track and field picture on EVERYTHING...

How about this one:
Number Nine GXiTC: http://mail.lipsia.de/~enigma/forum/vogons/n9.jpg
It has a rather fast VGA part and TIGA for Win 3.11. It has also the option to add another VGA card as replacement for the Acumos2.

a TSENG ET4000 lacks all the Win32 GDI acceleration functions.

I've got a Diamond Speedstar 64 2mb, uses the cirrus logic 5434 chipset, I run this in my 386 DX40 and the picture is fine in Windows 95 at 1024X768/16 bit. I assume windows 3.11 will run just as well, another great thing about this card is you can download the drivers from the diamond legacy driver page, I think this card or the ATI machs are basically your only option.

You need to find a new image host.

Blocking members in searches would be fantastic for me, especially for wiredfor*. He blocked me from bidding after I offered him an "insultingly low" $25 for a 486 board 3 years ago. He also has a good amount of mis-information in his listings because he copy/pastes from other listings and doesn't carefully review his posts. I have never bought from the blue track and field guy; his prices are too high for there not being a photograph.

From your responses, it sounds like a Diamond SpeedStar 64 or an ATI Mach 64 is the way to go for 1024x768, 16-bit colour in Win3.11. For DOS, an ET4000 is the way to go.

I didn't post the link suggesting anyone should buy it. I posted it to show that there was such a thing as a Mach64 ISA after someone said there wasn't.

And for further verification, here is a link to my last Mach64 ISA find sealed in the original box with photo

I bought this card for $33 delivered to Australia from the USA, bargain!!! And I thought it was going to be a 1meg card so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered it was 2meg.

Those look like bed sheets. Are you sleeping with your retro graphics card?

That is quite a nice package. It is a little difficult to tell from the photo, but it looks like for a Diamond Speedstar 64 to work with 1024x768 at 64K colours in Windows, it requires 2 MB of DRAM.

Yes the card is 2meg and you need 2meg to run 16bit colour at 1024x768, As far I can tell the Et4000 has no advantage over this card in any area, I benchmarked Doom, Quake, 3dbench and saw no difference in frame rate (on the 386), Nothing else would be worth benchmarking/testing I dont suppose.
