Nabbed this off ebay, new/unused:

powerramp.png

Its in transit now, should be here on the 27th. If I end up not liking the feel of it, I'll use the guts to build a proper 6 button stick, though I imagine it'll be fine.

You can't have enough. One day they will start to fail so better to be safe.

New in the box an EVEREX I/0 card, with a RTC clock.
Its a still sealed box
Its for my V20 nec computer.

Iam not really happy with that EVEREX card. I hoped it had a RTC, but is doesnt. Because

EVEREX- EV170 has a RTC
EVEREX- EV170A does not..

But the good is it was still new in sealed box, manual sealed, there is a floppy in it also..
Maybe i going it used in my new 80286 system build.. So i dont need a RTC on a 286 computer..

But i still had a ACE in my hand (iam not stupid)

So i give this one a try:

$%28KGrHqV,!hsE2RG,B4q3BNlmD!HnsQ~~_3.JPG

Only need a new battery in i hope.. But i have bought more times from this seller and have a good feeling about this..

Powerramp arrived.

Works pretty well in Dos and Win 98. Didn't have any real issues with it in Windows or anything as far as multiple key presses go. My worst gripe is maybe just the issue with them assigning the top row first button as the control key. Control functions as pause in MK3 in Dos, and in MK 2 it wont let you assign that key to anything, same as enter key.

This is not a issue for MK2 really since you can use the 4 middle buttons for attacks and shift button for block, but on Mk 3 you'll have to use the space button for run, which makes it not as smooth a button layout compared to a traditional 6 button one. Due to this, I will prob pop the stick open some time and swap the space and control buttons around. I could simply program it per game, but people have said the stick can act finicky when programmed.

I wish I could find someone selling the one RAM chip I need to fix my 128k Mac. Some parts warehouses online have them, but they have minimum orders and since the chips sell from them for 25c each, you have to order a bunch of them or else they don't want to know you. I have no use for 100 or 1000 of them, I only need one. When you go on ebay, if you find someone selling one, they want $20 for one chip!

A few days ago I bought board. I saw it on ebay, being sold in Greece, so I thought cool, the shipping cost would be very low. The seller had no clue about the board. He mentioned just Soyo Motherboard.
Here's the picture he had :

board01y.jpg

Obviously it's a 286, probably not Soyo, just the box is from a Soyo board. I saw sipp sockets and a harris cpu. So I decided to bid, at a starting price of $15. Nobody else bid on it, so it's mine. It was posted yesterday, and it arrived today.

402te.jpg

A 286-20 Harris cpu, UMC chipset, 1MB RAM in chips, but look at that strange socket it has, that resembles very much to a sipp socket(on the original pic)....

403wf.jpg

I connected a power supply, installed a vga card and it boots fine. However it says at the BIOS Setup screen PC-Chips... I know that's not very good in general, but perhaps for a 286 it isn't that bad. The battery is starting to leak, but there's absolutely no damage on the board. I'm going to remove it right now.

Finally, the box is from a Soyo 5VA2, a board of which I own two pieces, so it's going to be really nice to have one in it's original packaging. 😁

Bought an Xbox360:

img0725xk.jpg

Harvey Norman (Australian shopping chain) had a special for only A$148 (~118 Euros).

What does this have to do with Retro? Well I bought this so I can play the Metal Gear Solid HD collection when it comes out over here...

Always wanted to get a PS2 to play these games, but now I don't have to 😀

Found this vintage Gateway G6-400 on Craigslist, for only $10. The posting said it had a voodoo 5 in it. At this point I have bought two of them, which unfortunately don't seem to function correctly anymore. I think I spent $40 on the one and then $60 on the other, so even if I had to drive about 100 miles I though it was worth it.

img1753r.th.jpg

I didn't stop to look up anything about the computer it was housed in, since I wasn't really interested in it anyway, but right away when I went to pick it up and I saw on the back the location of the video card in relation to the back plane, I knew instantly, that it was a Voodoo 5 PCI that was inside!!!!!

Not to shabby for $10.

On a related note, how fast is that amd processor?

Hey. It has a 400mhz Pentium II in it. It also cam with a couple small Maxtor HDDs (yuck), a CD-ROM and CD-RW, and a DLink network card. All this powered by some random 200 watt power supply. As far as I can tell the processor and the power supply are certainly stock, the NIC and Voodoo I'm not sure about. I'm not sure if the HDDs are original just because a friend had G6-333 and it had Western Digital in it.

Nice find! These MPU401 cards can cost a bit, but they are essential for driving a MT-32.

wow... are they REALLY expensive? I just found one in a $5 thrift store computer., now i'm considering selling it.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
