First, how much do you think a 128mb nvidia graphics card would bottleneck a pIII 500mhz with 512mb ram? Also, on the same note, the motherboard has jumpers that can control the cpu speed, now three is a spot for default (default cpu speed no change) 200mhz 250mhz 300 and 500mhz and 550mhz could I potentially set it to 1ghz by putting a jumper on the 500 and 550 spot? Or would that not work? The computer is a dell optiplex gx something.

Or another use is I could throw my sbpro and the 128mb into a dell tower that is 800mhz and put windows 2k on it.

We would need more info than the amount of VRAM to answer that question.

FX5200 in a Dell Optiplex GX110

Riser PCI only, so just forget it. You'd probably fry the Dell PSU.

Use a Voodoo3 PCI

As for the CPU jumper don't bother, it's the earliest Pentium III - you'd best get 667mhz from it in overclocks. The 1GHz P3's are from the much later cores

Thanks, just wanted to give it a slight boost, but thanks for the help. I should really get an avatar. 😒

Those Dell GX PSU's are only good for about 200-250W at best so you can't get carried away adding cards to them. There are harnesses you can buy that will convert an ATX power supply to a Dell proprietary so you can get increased power for adding upgrades or there are plans available online for making one yourself.

True that, but this is one of the reasons I skip Dell and co altogether

I'd feel more sorry for the Virge then that Dell PSU though 😜

Generally it's easier to just stick with standard ATX or AT gear, god I have a real dislike for proprietary stuff

Yeah, I didn't specifically pic the dell, I just kinda got it because it was cheap (free) and it had win98 (check out ALL my other threads for the fully saga of this computer.)
