Hello guys,
I have made this thread because of setting up my soundblaster card 2.0 CT1350.. I have installed it in my NEC V20 computer, because of the use of the compatibillity of soundblaster + CMS + ADLIB sound on this old computer
Few months ago i downloaded MALIKS SOUNBLASTER DRIVER COLLECTION..
Thanks for sharing this stuff by the way..
I had used the TEST-SBC.EXE to verify if the card works.. I didnt tested the ADLIB and CMS as well..
I didnt know which drivers i had needed to installing my sb card. Because there where 2 driver packages in this soundblaster collection.
So theres a directory called: SOUNDBLASTER 1.0 CT-1350B install disks.. AND a directory called: SOUNDBLASTER 2.0 CT-1350B install disks..
I only know that my SB2.0 card have a DSP V2.02 on it...
The printed circuit board says its a CT1350B.. And a sticker on the back says its a CT-1350A card... So iam a little bit confused here, what exactly which version of this card i have..
So i thought that i better could try a driver set out and sees what happends. So i made floppy of those SOUNDBLASTER 1.0 CT-1350B install disks...
Then when installing would began, it doesnt regonized my first installation disk.. But very quick i had seen what the problem was.. I needed to label the floppy disks, or elso it couldnt be detected
So the installation went well. And after finishing i tried the card out (only on SB modus) and seems the working perfect.. The setup only set 2 rules in the autoexec.bat..
Thats the SB line SET BLASTER=a220 I2 D1 bla bla..
And
SET SOUND=C:\SB
Then i have serveral questions:
1. I know SET blaster is for enable the soundcard settings..
Whats SET SOUND=C:\SB for??
2. Because i installed this card in a XT TURBO CLONE i cant use a version of windows 3.0 because lack of memory, it takes to much memory from my system.. So i decided to leave it off my system.. So i dont need the windows programs... can i erase / delete the following files without hurt my SB installation;
winsetup.inf
winsetup.exe
winappl directory
schedule directory
windrv directory..
Because i dont going to use it in the future. So it would only wasting harddisk space..
3. Can someone tell me which version of card i have?? I want also to know if i have the right installation driver package installed..
4. Can someone tell me why SBmidi.exe would hangs my system. Its the file in the C:\SB directory. It sets the settings and my system wouldnt respond anymore.. So i need it to reset / reboot..
5. Because of the setup only adds the above mentioned two rules in the autoexec.bat do i need to set things manually by my self..
Is it recommend to add the SBFMDRV.COM file to the autoexec.bat because it wouldnt load when the system is booting up...
6. Is it correct when i want to use the CMS chips i needed to load the CMS-DRV.COM... Can i just copy it to the C:\SB directory and add the line to the autoexec.bat. Is the version 3.20B the latest version or it there a 3.20C version as well? Which version do i need for my SB card?
7. Do i need to load any ADLIB driver to use the ADLIB function, because in the updated drive selection there is a file called: SB-SOUND.COM
8. Then i need to update the latest driver version..
I doesnt know which one to take:
