If I switch on my 486 box and play any given game that uses the SB Pro for OPL music, it works just fine.

However, if I fire up Doom or Inertia Player, both of which use the GUS, then exit. Any game I fire up afterwards that uses OPL music fails to detect the device. Ctrl-Alt-Del fixes the issue, but it's pretty annoying.

What's up with that?

Edit: Sorry, strike that, it's only Inertia Player. Commander Keen runs fine with sound after playing Doom.

Try to reinitialize your SB after that without rebooting by "diagnose /s" or what is used for in your case.

Master Mixer is also capable of DSP and EMU reset on Blasters, that might work as well.

I assume you're not using the GUS in SB compatibility mode?
