First of all "HI" to everybody here, I am new!

I can't get an old game started in the Dos Box. (Warlords 2) I just spent more than an hour with reading tips, instructions and and and...no help found.

When I start the game, what works well so far, I can see the mouse cursor, but as soon as I click something inside the dos - box frame, the cursor is gone. No matter if I fix it with control / F10 or not. Without fixing it, it is a white cursor, if I fix it, it appears black, but it's gone with the first click.

And the music in the game still runs after the starting speech, what is also fascinating, because it never was like that in years of playing it before, if there are any warlords 2 fans left out there?

Any ideas? Cheers, wargul16

Are you sure there's supposed to be a cursor? Some old menu-driven games didn't bother with them.

Meanwhile, I got it running but it is still far from being ok....If I try to play it with all sounds switched on, I face the problem I have already described in my first post.

If i turn the music off, it runs but I can't speed the cpu up because then the sounds lacks. Thank you for trying to help me, I think I will need to spend some time with the "easy running" dos box----- The reason why I was asking for a way to play warlords 2 without any modulator..... thank's win7... I guess I will use xp again...there it worked perfectly!

It works fine for me using DosBox 0.74 under Win 7...I find the mouse cursor slow, but it doesn't go away if I click somewhere; also...are your sound settings properly configured?

properly configured? Well, I tried what is possible, like three or four different ways of sound configurations.. with full sound, without speech, without music and..hm.... each configuration causes another problem... but none works the way it should be...
