I tried to research a bit about MSS (Microsoft sound system) audio cards as many old DOS games actually support it. However, i could not find much info. Whether you search google for "Microsoft sound system" or "MSS" you mainly find linux drivers, but not much real info about these cards.

Is MSS the same as "WSS" (Windows sound system)? The wikipedia article does not really go into depth.

I guess MWSS would be the correct abbreviation 😉

MSS/WSS are the same and both sound good on paper. However some early implementations (93-94) of WSS are totally suck, like MAD16, which, like the name says, will make you pissed thanks to its buggy TSRs and questionable chipset. (Their W95 support isn't so hot either)

I then gave up the 48000hz fantasy and got a Creative card 🙁
