Hi, people from Vogons, pleased to meet you all 😀

I downloaded Warcraft today and everything went fine untill I tried to play a single player game, it asked me for a CD. Sadly, I don't have one as I was like four when the game came out. I even checked the biggest Dutch webshop to see if I could order it, but they didn't even have it! Can you believe this?

I also don't know how to patch the game, I can see a file called patch but I don't know how to use it.

So, can anyone help me on patching and running this game without a CD? Thanks.

ps. Shame what happened to Blizzard. The Warcraft story was destroyed by WoW, Starcraft's by Wings of Liberty and will no doubt be further smithereen'd by the expansions. R.I.P Blizzard.

Looking forward to playing and discussing more awesome games from before my time with you all. Glad I discovered DOSBox.

Just wanted to say that I searched for other threads, but with all of those with CD problems, the OP actually had the CD. Or maybe I'm bad at searching. If there is a thread where my questions are answered then sorry for making a duplicate thread.

Well the first problem is that you downloaded it, which is illegal unless the rights holder has published it.

Well, whatever, I guess that's that then. It would still be very grateful if someone could help me with my criminal pursuit, but I can understand and live with it if this doesn't happen. The problem is I'm 21, wich is pretty early to have a credit card and I'm not going to need one any time soon, so I cant get it off sites like amazon. Would be a waste to get oen just for this. However, I can search more. There should be some copies of it left here in The Netherlands on wich I can get my hands. It's a shame though that it's this hard (if not impossible) for gamers of the newer geenrations to play these great old games.

If there's someone here who I could buy or trade it from I'd be very willing to. In the mean time I guess I'll search some more.

It's the third one in the upper-right part of the post. One of those circle-shaped tiny buttons. Just hover your mouse over it. A tooltip will appear with some information.

Debit cards work the same as credit cards in most cases. That's how I pay for games on Amazon.
