I'm playing with a Voodoo Rush, with a Macronix 2D chipset.
Using an unknown Soltek motherboard, with a Pentium 150, 512KB cache, and an AWE64 Gold. OS is Win98SE with the unofficial service pack.
It works perfectly under windows, but if I try to run a DOS 3DFX supporting game from within Windows, (for example, Descent 2 or Carmageddon with the 3dfx patches) after I quit and exit that game I can't run any others. I recieve this error when trying to launch another Glide/3DFX game:
Mutual exclusion prohibits this
And the game crashes to desktop.
Doesn't matter if the second game is DOS or Windows based.
However Windows games won't cause this problem. Its only DOS games launched within Windows that support 3DFX that cause it. Software mode DOS games don't cause the problem either.
A reboot clears the issue until the next time I play a DOS 3DFX game. However this is annoying and I'd like to know if it can be resolved.
I tried to set up DOS mode for these games, but when launching them I just get a blank screen. I don't know if I need some environment variables set or something?
I'm using the Mancuso Mix drivers from here: http://www.falconfly.de/rush.htm
I also tried the latest 3dfx reference drivers but it made no difference.
