I love the slot systems. I have a 950 athlon sitting at my knee that I just need to get off my arse and finish! Post some benchmarks, I'll get mine going, overclock it and see how a pair of voodoo 2's does against a rage fury maxx. ^.^

Funny, I have that exact same TDK CD-RW in my Slot A machine.

I like how you have your expansion slots and PSU set up to be 'toolless' but the side panel isn't. 🤣

Thanks guys. As I mess with the thing I am making a list of what games have been working ok with it, and what hasn't. When it gets to be a post worthy list I will do so. Right off the bat though I can tell you I couldn't get Dethkarz to run with the card. I also tried the card in a Athlon XP Via config and it was a no go in there too, I have found Dethkarz to be picky at times, refusing to run on certain configurations, so I wasn't totally surprised.

I want a Rage Fury Maxx.... but I'm NOT paying £100... nor am I sending a postal order to China.

I love your keen approach to actually USE the Rage Fury Maxx. After all its drawbacks it's still an interesting card and due to the lack of T'n'L engine it benefits from every single MHz CPU power you give it. You could try to overclock your 900MHz Athlon a bit, it will help.
Btw. this card isn't expensive at all. Yesterday it sold for under 14 Euros (+ shipping) in Germany (ebay.de).

Paid 3 quid for mine. If you're lucky you can find them cheap.

I liked the card and all pretty well, but decided to pull it. I really don't need two powerful Win 98 machines, and am in the process of streamlining my gaming rigs. Knocking things down to where I just have a lower end and higher end Dos system, a Win 98 system, a dual boot SLI machine for XP and Win 7, and my main crossfire Win 7 system. Really there isn't anything the Fury Maxx can do that my Voodoo 5 cant do either. I tucked the Fury Maxx away for later, probably sell or trade it or something, or maybe stow it away for a year or two if I don't find anyone that wants it. The system the Fury was in now houses the Voodoo 5.

The Fury MAXX is a nice card to have from a collectible standpoint, which was why I bought one, but I'd rather have a GeForce 256 or Voodoo 5 in a machine that I am actually going to use.

Well, the above rig is staying the same other then it now houses a Voodoo 5 and a Antec 350 watt psu. The other rig that used to house the Voodoo 5 has been reworked and sold. I've always liked my Slot-A stuff, but honestly never had too much time to do anything with it until now. The only real issue I have with the Gateway board is it seems to hate working with EMU10K1 cards, but is perfectly fine with anything else.

My dedicated XP build also got broken down, the socket 939 board, 1950 gpu, etc all boxed, and the case now houses my SLI system. When I get the time I am just going to have it set up to dual boot XP and Win 7. I also may swap cases on that one too, I am not sure yet. The original Aerocool case my SLI system was in went to my son. He had really liked it, and I couldn't use it anymore for SLI after moving on to GTX 280. A pair of those cards would have been too hot to be in there.

A little more in regards to the Rage Fury MAXX. Like I said, I did like the card fine and all. Its a nice little exotic piece of ATI hardware, and it handled most everything I threw at it fine. If I did not have the Voodoo 5 here and could not replace it, I would be using the MAXX without a doubt. As it so happens though, I have the Voodoo 5, which is basically my favorite Windows 98/Me card to use. If mine died I'd repair or replace it.

If I had to make a top 5 list of cards I feel suit my needs best for Windows 98/Me basically it would be something like this:
1. Voodoo 5
2. Rage Fury MAXX
3. Voodoo 3
4. Geforce 2 GTS/TI/Ultra
5. Banshee
