Heh, although I'm not too familiar with the Roland synths, I do know of the little scroller thing that can be seen on the LCD display (generated by MIDI sysex commands) of some of them when playing the demo MIDI file "Star Games" (STARGAME.MID).

Anyhow, I stumbled upon the following Windows MIDI player "TMIDI Player v3.8.6" that includes an LCD looking display of sorts that works similar to the real LCD display on the Roland synths:

Note that the TMIDI program is all in Japanese, but you can pretty much figure out the usual "File/Open" menus and such.
Attached is a ZIP with the "Star Games" MIDI file (STARGAME.MID). Install the player, open and play the MIDI, and it looks like the above videos of a real Roland synth playing it <grin> 😀
P.S. From what I've read on the Internet, many of the Yamaha MU## tone generators also support the same LCD display commands... the "Star Games" MIDI will display on them as well 😀
(edit) P.P.S. That "Roland Demonstration Song Data" floppy in the second video looks rather interesting. Wonder what else is on it, or a place to download a floppy disk image? 😀
