Installing "World of Xeen" works. But trying to start the program aborts with an error saying "This is a MUSIC CD - please insert a WORLD OF XEEN CD".
Any advice? Is there any way around this?

Get the no-cd patched version.

This was repaired by Finster after somebody here tracked down the cause (I am not sure now whether it is in 0.60 - use CVS if not).
Mount CD as -aspi or -ioctl. I think that standard SDL CD support (which is used by default) is missing some functionality (so it does not work with it).

That's the problem - I *am* using the CVS version (downloaded yesterday!). Now, I have two drives - one a DVD/CD-RW and the other a plain CD-RW. The DVD is a Samsung unit. Could this be something to do with it?
I think it should not be problem. But you MUST (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) mount it in DOSBOX as "ioctl" (Windows NT/2000/XP) or "aspi" (all Windows versions, but ASPI drivers are required).
See this message for details about the bug:
Looking into M&M: WoZ bug...
As I looked then to CVS it seemed to be repaired for IOCTL and ASPI. But I do not have the game so I could not test it.

Right. But I'm running Linux - did I mistakenly think this bug had been fixed under that too?
Only windows has direct cd access, on other platforms you only have SDL that can get track information and play audio tracks but not read the actual cd sector data.
Mirekluza,
Tried what you suggested, but it didn't work (both ioctl & aspi) - still get the error message about music cds. Is there any new info?
I have that exact same problem which occurs if windows somehow stuffs up the way it reads cds. Firstly you need to have "insert cd notification" ticked in your system settings for your cdrom. The problem I have on my computer for example is that after doing the above, autorun on cds worked (after using a program called tweekui or something similar to get the insert stuff to be available) but reading a cd as both an audio+data cd at the same time isn`t possible. Or atleast from all attempts I`ve made.
