Hello,
Recently I got a Radeon 9200 PCI mac edition from ebay but it refuses to work properly on my system (A B&W G3 with G4 ZIF module from Yikes! - no cache enablers -, 1GB RAM and 2 voodoo 2 8mb sli). I have 2 disks, one with Mac OS 9.2.2 and other with 8.6 but both lock-up on boot with the ATI extensions enabled (at least OS 9.2.2 is supposed to work with this card, as I have installed the latest drivers for it, way before installing this card - I had a Radeon 7000 which worked out of the box - using ATI drivers from 2005, which already supported the Radeon 9200). I tried removing the voodoo2s, swaping the 9200 from different slots, reseting PRAM, cuda, all with no avail. The ATI 2D Accelerator refuse to load at startup, even it's from the driver package for this same card. I would appreciate if anyone could help me on this.

Looks like it's known to have a few incompatibilities but I guess you know that and you've probably seen these:

The ATI Radeon 9200 is a PCI video card compatible with most Macs with PCI slots. However, ATI notes that it is not compatible with the Digital Audio and Gigabit Ethernet G4 Power Mac in Mac OS 9. It was never used as a standard video card on any Mac.

Note: If you have an older mac w/G4 CPU upgrade (beige G3 or older for instance), for years there's been reports of conflicts (boot hangs, etc.) with ATI OS 9.x extensions (graphics accelerator extension IIRC) and cache enablers. Renaming extensions (space or tilde first letter) to change load order may help. For OS 9.x users, install the 9200 OS 9 drivers before installing the card. Also there's been several problem reports from older macs w/PCI IDE cards or SCSI PCI cards and the 9200 PCI card, although one Beige G3/9200/Sonnet Trio card owner said he's not seen any problems.

Yes, I've seen those, but these are none of my cases. My G4 processor on the G3 B&W is original from Apple and does not use any cache or system enablers. I had the drivers installed before I pluged it in. The Radeon 7000 I have uses the same update from january, 2005.

The B&W G3 uses a 66mhz PCI slot for video. Could the Radeon 9200 possibly not be compatible with this slot? Have you tried it in any of the other PCI slots?

I tried on the 33MHz slots with the same result.

It turns out to be the card might be a rebadged Radeon 9250. There are Mac OS 9.2.2 modded drivers for it but I couldn't find them anywhere. Is anyone around here able to find them? This would be my last resource to make the card work. I tried everything else possible and I look exactly like my avatar after trying my last possibilities.
